Thanks to a generous donation of materials from @mccarthyandstone we are building a covered walkway between our sheds. Should mean we (especially our wheelchair using members) can get from one shed to the other in the rain and keep dry!

Our members have been busy making items to sell at the St James Road Methodist Christmas Craft Fair this Saturday, 27th Nov. (10:30-14:00). Why not pop in and see us and get a few Christmas presents.

Just some of the items that our members have been making recently. Many will be available on our stall at the Friends of Fremantle Lake Park get together on 16th September. Come along and say hello and find out more about us.

On the 14th July 2022 the Mayor of Southampton off

On the 14th July 2022 the Mayor of Southampton officially opened Shirley Men’s Shed. That means that today we are officially one year old!

We would like to thank all of our members (old and new) for supporting us during our first year and making use of the facilities that we have worked so hard to provide. It really is great to see new friendships being formed and people enjoying some company, coffee and the odd joke or two with our membership numbers going up steadily.

A lot has happened in the year that we have been officially opened. We have acquired another, smaller shed which we are currently fitting out to use as additional working and storage space. We have reorganised our main shed to make best use of the space available. We have helped our local community by carrying out projects that we have been asked to undertake. We have expanded our membership and our opening hours.

We would like to thank all that have helped us during the year and those organisations that have given us grants to help us get established.

We continue to welcome new members and to enhance our facilities.

Second shed (more working and storage space) is taking shape.

One of our founders, Yolanda, has left our committ

One of our founders, Yolanda, has left our committee this week after five years helping us get to where we are today. Her step-father Keith was one of the inspirations behind our Men’s Shed, although he did not live to see it open. Keith also donated a lot of the equipment we use today, including the saw in the picture. We thank Yolanda and Keith for their inspiration and help.
